The Role:

Prospect Schools is seeking a mission-driven Permanent Building Substitute Teacher to join us in support of our growing network of schools. The Building Substitute Teacher is a full-time, school-based educator who provides daily instructional and classroom coverage across all grade levels and subject areas as needed. This full-time substitute is embedded within the school community, ensuring continuity of instruction, strong classroom management, and consistent support for students and staff. The ideal candidate demonstrates a willingness to be flexible in the role and adapt to school and student needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Job Responsibilities:

Instruction:

  • Provide short- and long-term instructional coverage across classrooms as assigned

  • Deliver lesson plans left by lead teachers and/or implement school-approved instructional materials

  • Maintain consistent routines, expectations, and classroom culture aligned with school values

  • Differentiate instruction and learning approaches as needed 

  • Participate in lunch and recess supervision

  • Demonstrate successful partnership with the classroom or subject area co-teacher and utilize multiple co-teaching models in the classroom 

Classroom Environment:

  • Consistently model our core values and provide opportunities for students to learn about and practice them

  • Set the tone of the classroom as a positive place that fosters both high expectations and student voice and expression

  • Set clear expectations and institute routines to create a purposeful, supportive, and warm environment for learning 

Adult Culture and Teamwork:

  • Embody a team first mindset by proactively seeking opportunities to build relationships and collaborate across functional teams, actively participate in professional development opportunities, and engage families and community members

  • Demonstrate a commitment to giving and receiving feedback for the purpose of continuous growth and learning

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Prior teaching experience strongly preferred 

  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail

  • Experience working in a diverse school community 

  • Adept at collaborating and building community with others

Salary:

Employees at Prospect Schools are provided with a competitive salary. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role. As a teacher, your salary is determined by both years of teaching experience and postsecondary education.
