Prospect Schools is a high-performing, intentionally diverse ("diverse by design") K-12 college preparatory charter network serving more than 2,700 students in seven (soon to be nine!) schools in Brooklyn. The Role
As a member of the Prospect Schools People Team, our mission is to ensure that we are attracting, developing, and retaining exceptional people to serve our students and families.
Reporting to the Director of Recruitment, the Recruitment Specialist manages the full-cycle recruitment experience. Meeting with hiring managers, posting jobs, conducting phone screens, scheduling in-person interviews, being on-site and conducting interviews, completing reference checks, and extending offers - all are within the purview of this job. Ensuring that all prospective candidates of Prospect Schools receive an exceptional recruitment experience that centers around our core mission and our commitment to creating intentionally diverse schools and learning environments for staff, students, and communities.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment Operations

Execute full-cycle recruitment processes aligned to the sourcing strategies set by the Director of Talent, including job posting, phone screens, interviews, reference checks, and offers

Manage candidate progress through the ATS (Vidcruiter), ensuring accurate data entry, timely status updates, and communication with candidates and hiring managers

Own scheduling and logistics for interviews, including coordination with school sites and interview teams

Collaborate with hiring managers to create clear action steps following each hiring touchpoint and follow through on next steps in a timely manner
Candidate & Hiring Manager Experience

Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates throughout the recruitment process, and a warm, inclusive experience that reflects Prospect Schools’ values

Build and maintain strong working relationships with hiring managers across the organization, offering responsive and consistent support throughout the hiring process

Host regular candidate check-ins and respond promptly to all inquiries via email, phone, and Gchat
-
Support the planning and execution of finalist days, including logistics, hospitality, and communication
Talent Attraction & External Representation

Represent Prospect Schools at in-person and virtual recruitment events, career fairs, and networking opportunities to attract diverse and high-quality talent

Coordinate and support the execution of talent events and info sessions, including marketing and candidate follow-up

Build and maintain a warm, engaged pipeline of prospective candidates, aligned to projected hiring needs
Data, Systems, and Project Management

Track and manage recruitment progress by portfolio or role type, maintaining clear visibility into hiring timelines and status updates

Monitor and update recruitment dashboards and trackers to inform weekly meetings, portfolio reviews, and organizational reporting

Support special projects led by the Director of Talent, including candidate experience audits, process improvements, or seasonal hiring campaigns

Organize recruitment files, documentation, and system records to ensure accuracy and compliance
Collaboration & Customer Service

Work closely with the Talent Team and larger People & Equity Team to implement and maintain recruitment systems, tools, and protocols

Demonstrate exceptional internal customer service by responding quickly and thoroughly to requests from hiring managers, school leaders, and teammates

Escalate issues, concerns, or process barriers to the Director of Talent as needed

Organized and efficient, and skilled at managing multiple searches and meeting competing deadlines

Self-directed and responsive, with a high degree of ownership and initiative

Demonstrated commitment to equity in hiring, with an interest in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable talent pipelines

Technically proficient and comfortable using an ATS (e.g., VidCruiter, Greenhouse), GSuite, and sourcing platforms like LinkedIn Recruiter

Comfortable receiving and applying feedback to improve individual and team performance
-
Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Curious and eager to learn, asks thoughtful questions, and takes initiative to grow
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; additional coursework or certification in HR, talent acquisition, or DEI practices is a plus
-
2+ years of experience in full-cycle recruitment, ideally in a fast-paced, mission-driven or school-based setting

Demonstrated experience implementing and executing structured interview processes, including phone screens, in-person interviews, and reference checks

Proven ability to assess candidates against role-specific competencies and organizational fit

Direct experience with recruitment event planning, career fair representation, and proactive outreach to diverse candidate pools

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to provide a high-touch, candidate-centered experience while coordinating with multiple stakeholders

Highly organized and able to manage multiple hiring processes simultaneously, with exceptional follow-through and attention to detail

Collaborative mindset with the ability to build trust and maintain productive working relationships with hiring managers, teammates, and external candidates

Commitment to confidentiality and data integrity, with a clear understanding of handling sensitive employee information
Salary
Employees at Prospect Schools are provided with a competitive salary. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role. The salary range for this role is from $71,000-$91,286.
