Director of School Operations

Primary Job Functions:

Building Management

  • Ensure facility is maintained to the highest standards of safety, cleanliness and appearance
  • Plan and execute pre-opening plan and close-out for the building each year, including classroom assignments, furniture moves/ordering, key distribution/collection, etc.
  • Manage capital projects to enhance and improve facilities
  • Successfully establish and maintain relationships with the co-located school’s leadership and building team

Safety & Security

  • Coordinate security coverage schedule and oversee contracted security officers
  • Manage the nurse and ensure clear health procedures
  • Maintain building safety and evacuation plans, train faculty on emergency readiness, and plan and lead safety drills

Student Services & Operations Routines

  • Oversee school Registrar and related functions, including student enrollment, records maintenance, and  student info database management
  • Oversee ongoing development and day-to-day implementation of systems around all aspects of student operations, including student meals, attendance, and transportation services
  • Own and manage the arrival and dismissal routines
  • Manage the administration of all student testing
  • Improve and execute the process to create and distribute Narrative Reports (report cards)

Events & Internal Communication

  • Coordinate internal space usage calendar for special events and meetings
  • Scale and improve the school’s internal (staff) communication systems
  • Oversee planning and execution of logistics for regular and special events (Back to School Night, Parent/Teacher Conferences, etc.)

Team Management & Development

  • Manage and develop a growing team of operations staff members
  • Manage the After School Program Coordinator
  • Actively serve on the school’s leadership team

Resource Management

  • Support the principal with preparing the annual budget and tracking spending against the budget
  • Manage school’s supplies and assets. Oversee resource purchasing
  • Work with IT team to ensure staff are resourced with proper working equipment


Required Skills & Experiences:

  • Strong verbal and written communicator
  • Successful management of complex and high-stakes projects involving 5+ people
  • Comfort and experience with navigating through ambiguity to solve complex problems
  • Record of building strategic relationships to achieve results
  • Willingness to work autonomously, collaboratively and/or under the direction of manager as needed
  • Experience “managing up” to a manager to increase the organization’s effectiveness and/or capacity
  • Record of managing peers or direct reports to reach ambitious outcomes
  • Experience working or teaching in a K-12 school  
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of work experience in a fast paced, high volume environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word and Excel


Employees at Prospect Schools are provided with a competitive salary. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role. The salary range for this role is from $90,000-$105,000.
